PWR is a powdered additive that is dry mixed with mortar or concrete to provide superior water repellent properties. When mixed into mortar or concrete, PWR forms a permanent water repellent matrix of protection. PWR can be used to waterproof mortar for tuckpointing, or during the construction of brick walls. This convenient powder can also be used in new concrete and for concrete repairs such as chimney crowns, parapet wall caps, and a variety of projects. When used in combination with masonry, the entire project can be treated the same day with a SaverSystems water-based water repellent to provide a complete water repellent system.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Add PWR dry powder to a dry mix of mortar and sand, or cement at specified proportions, and mix thoroughly. Add the appropriate amount of water to the dry mixture to prepare conventional mortar or concrete with superior water repellency.

MIX PREPARATION

Prepare a mixture of mortar or cement by adding one (1) ounce (by volume - measuring cup provided) of PWR per each standard round-point shovelful of sand, aggregate, mortar, or cement. A typical mortar mix of one shovel of mortar and three shovels of sand would receive four (4) ounces of PWR powder. For bagged premixed mortar or concrete, or when using other units of measure, add one (1) ounce of PWR powder per each 15 pounds of dry mixture weight. For example, add four (4) ounces of PWR powder per 60-pound bag, 5 1/3 ounces per 80-pound bag, or 6 ounces per 90-pound bag of premix. To ensure proper dispersion of PWR, mix thoroughly with dry ingredients before adding water.

LARGE BATCHES

For larger jobs, rebuilds, and new construction, load mixer or pan with all dry ingredients according to batch size. Thoroughly mix dry mortar and sand. Remove 2-3 shovelfuls of dry mixture and place in empty 5-gallon pail or wheelbarrow. To the smaller mixture, add 1 ounce of PWR powder for every shovelful contained in the total batch. Thoroughly mix with electric drill and paddle mixer until PWR powder is completely dispersed. Add this mixture back to the larger batch and again mix with other dry ingredients. Then add water as you normally would for the batch. NOTE: Once PWR has been added to a dry mix it must be used immediately. Storing the dry mixture for even a short period of time will make it difficult to mix with water.
