DEFY Extreme Clear Wood Stain is a synthetic-resin, transparent wood stain formulated using state-of-the-art nano-technology to create a level of durability that has simply not been available in a clear wood stain finish in the past. Extreme Wood Stain is the newest member of the DEFY line of wood products and is our most innovative, high-performance product yet.

Ultraviolet rays cause wood to turn gray and become susceptible to water penetration and decay. DEFY Extreme Wood Stain effectively protects the wood from the harmful effects of the sun and from graying by using state-of-the-art nano-technology.

DEFY Extreme Wood Stain contains zinc oxide particles that reflect the damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun. When you reduce the size of these zinc particles down to the nano level, they become invisible to the naked eye. These nano-particles are distributed at a rate of over 30 trillion per square inch of surface area to provide protection from the sun, much like sun blockers and sunscreen lotions.

This will not only help to prevent the graying, but, as the nano-particles are highly resistant to mold and mildew, will also enable you to retain the natural color. DEFY Extreme Wood Stain is also available in six, semi-transparent deck stain colors and is designed to be used on interior or exterior wood surfaces including:

  • wood siding
  • log homes
  • decks
  • fences
  • shake shingles
  • outdoor wood furniture
  • pressure treated lumber
  • all other natural wood surfaces.

Applying Extreme Wood Stain is easy! A treatment of DEFY Wood Cleaner will generally clean and restore previously treated surfaces to their original appearance. Once cleaned, a quick application of DEFY Wood Brightener will brighten the wood and restore the wood’s natural beauty. This deck sealer will provide long-term beauty and will protect the natural appearance of your wood. The surface should be re-coated annually or when graying initially starts to appear.

Note: PREPARATION BEFORE APPLYING EXTREME WOOD STAIN. To ensure your satisfaction with this product, it is highly recommended that you use both DEFY Wood Cleaner and DEFY Wood Brightener, per label instructions, to prepare any weathered wood for staining. Use of alternative products or methods prior to sealing may result in unsatisfactory final results.

DEFY Extreme Wood Stain dries to a transparent finish that allows the natural wood grain to show through. It is sold in one- and five-gallon containers and covers 100-150 square feet per gallon, depending on wood texture and porosity.

Easy Deck Care Maintenance
Periodically, as the surface begins to get dirty or dull, simply wash it down with a mild detergent and water. As the weather begins to wear away at the surface, a maintenance coat will need to be applied. To see if the surface is ready for a maintenance coat, simply sprinkle a little water on it. If the water is immediately absorbed into the wood, then it is ready to be recoated.

The first step in the maintenance process is to apply a coat of Wood Brightener. This will lighten any minor graying and clean the surface. Allow the surface to dry for 24 hours, then apply a single-coat application of Extreme Wood Stain as directed on the label.
