Read the Label - CrownSaver

CrownSaver Crown Repair System is a blend of polymer hydraulic cements and modified polysiloxane (the active ingredient in ChimneySaver® Water Repellent) specifically formulated for the repair of chimney crowns. CrownSaver is waterproof, durable, and easy to use. CrownSaver is a repair coating that can be installed with or without an underlayment of FormFoil™.

Coverage: Contents will cover approximately 30 square feet at 1/2 inch when properly mixed.

Weather Conditions: Surface and air temperature should be a minimum of 40°F but not greater than 95°F at the time of application. Do not apply if temperature is expected to drop below 40°F within a 6 hour period. Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces. Do not apply to wet or water saturated surfaces and/or when rainfall is expected within four hours unless adequate protection with a polyethylene film or its equivalent is provided.

Surface Preparation

Surface to be coated must be structurally sound, not loose. Surface must be clean and dry. Protect roof from inadvertent spills.

Mixing: Measure the surface area to be covered to determine the square footage (L x W). Do not deduct for tile liners. For each square foot to be covered, mix thoroughly one scoop of CrownSaver and three scoops of sand (scoop provided). Clean masonry or bagged sand is recommended. Add water sparingly and mix to the consistency of mortar. The mixture should be stiff but trowel easily.

APPLICATION

For use as repair coating: Apply a 1/2 inch bead of silicone sealant around each tile liner to form an expansion joint. Allow the sealant to slightly harden. Thoroughly dampen surface before applying. Trowel CrownSaver evenly over entire crown at a thickness of 1/4 inch minimum to 2 inches maximum. Surface misting with water may be needed for smooth troweling. When CrownSaver begins to set, smooth lightly with a masonry finish brush to remove trowel marks. For use over FormFoil: Thoroughly wet FormFoil with water. Trowel CrownSaver evenly over FormFoil at a thickness of 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. Mist with water and smooth lightly with a masonry finish brush to remove trowel marks.

Note: Cover or mist installed FormFoil to protect from excessive heat which can cause CrownSaver to set too rapidly.

Curing time: CrownSaver will be dry to the touch within 4 – 6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity, and will cure completely within 24 hours

Cleanup: Remove CrownSaver from tools immediately after each use by scrubbing with a brush and water. To clean inadvertent spills from roofs, etc., remove excess and clean remaining CrownSaver with a stiff nylon scrub brush and water. Rinse thoroughly.

Storage: CrownSaver should be kept dry.
